With filming on the Bad Boys TV spinoff now underway, THR is reporting that Zach McGowan (The 100, Black Sails) has joined the NBC pilot as the main villain Ray Sherman, a slick-suited hustler and nightclub owner who has a violent encounter with Gabrielle Union’s Syd Burnett.
Written by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis (The Blacklist), the Bad Boys pilot sees Union reprising her Bad Boys II role as Syd, the sister of Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett, who is now working as a police detective in Los Angeles. There she finds herself partnered with working mom Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mother who can’t help but look at Syd’s free-spirited lifestyle with some grass-is-greener envy.
Also featuring in the cast of the pilot are Ernie Hudson, Zach Gilford, Duane Martin and Ryan McPartlin.
Sony has also recently announced that it is reviving its plans for a third entry in the Bad Boys movie series, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Gangsta, Snowfall) attached to direct the returning Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in Bad Boys For Life.
