As Bad Bunny continues his journey into wrestling and dominating music, his venture into blockbuster filmmaking is taking a hiatus.
With Sony Pictures dropping its updated film slate, El Muerto, the Spider-Man spinoff starring Bad Bunny, is no longer slated for a January 12th, 2024 release date.
This follows an April story we reported where TIME reported the movie is in development but is at a “standstill.” This would’ve marked the fourth Sony Pictures Marvel film, following two Venom movies, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven The Hunter and Madame Web, which is still slated for February 16th, 2024.
El Muerto follows a wrestler with superpowers passed down from generation to generation in a single family. Originally from the Spider-Man comics, the character is an antihero and the son of a luchador, or Mexican wrestler, and next in line to inherit the ancestral power of El Muerto.

Jonás Cuarón, the son of Alfonso Cuarón, is still attached to the project as director, while Gareth Dunnet Alcocer (Blue Beetle) is attached to write. Filming had not yet started, nor had casting been completed.
