Emerald Fennell reflects on one crucial need for her new film, Saltburn: “There has to be an element of revulsion.”
In a new piece from Vanity Fair, the filmmaker dives into her upcoming sophomore film starring the enigmatic Barry Keoghan. Saltburn is set to premiere this fall, and we are getting our first look at the twisted tale.
Following her award-winning film Promising Young Woman, Fennell is once again digging into her darkly comedic drama side, this time centering Saltburn on a group of wealthy Oxford students who escape to a lush estate for the summer.
Per the Vanity Fair story, Saltburn “tells a wicked tale about privilege and desire, following a student named Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) who is an outsider at Oxford, until he’s drawn to a handsome member of the wealthy elite, Felix Catton (Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi). Felix invites him to his family’s sprawling estate, where Oliver meets a twisted bunch of characters who say and do things that will make you squirm.” Check out the images below…
Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) develops an infatuation with the charismatic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to meet his aristocratic but eccentric family over the summer.
Saltburn will open the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 4, 2023. The film will then see a limited theatrical release on November 24, 2023, before expanding wide on December 1, 2023, by Amazon Studios and MGM.
