According to Variety, Hudis will be the showrunner and executive producer of the series, whilst Sonnenfeld will also act as executive producer alongside his directing role.
Sonnenfeld, perhaps best known as the director of the Men in Black trilogy, also worked as a cinematographer on some of the Coen Brothers’ early films, including Blood Simple and Raising Arizona.
The series will be produced in connection with Paramount, who also produced the 2004 film adaptation of the first three books, starring Jim Carrey as the villainous Count Olaf.
No timetable for the production of A Series of Unfortunate Events has been set at this time.
