With just six days to go until “the greatest gladiator match in history” gets underway, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is reportedly outpacing both Deadpool and The Avengers at the advance box office, and Warner Bros. has been throwing everything but the kitchen sink into its marketing push. …Warner Bros. has also kept the Suicide Squad promotion ticking over with the release of a new banner which sees Jared Leto’s Joker joining Task Force X, while Common has revealed the name of his mystery character and director David Ayer has been talking about how the DC supervillain ensemble will differ from typical comic book movies, stating that: “In your normal comic-book movie you have the good guy, the hero, and there’s a checklist and you can reverse engineer their actions from any given situation because they’re going to do the right thing. These are bad guys, so they have a lot more options open to them in any given situation. They’re capable of anything, and that’s the fun of this…”
…With Zack Snyder gearing up to go into production on Justice League next month, Amber Heard has now officially confirmed that she’s joined the cast of the two-part superhero epic in the role of Mera, the Queen of Atlantis. Heard joins fellow newcomer J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon) in the cast of Justice League, and will also reprise the role alongside Jason Momoa in 2018’s Aquaman solo movie…
…It looks like Warner Bros. is eyeing another DC movie on its slate, with the studio reviving its planned Lobo adaptation by bringing in Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs to pen the script. The project has been in the pipeline for several years now, with Brad Peyton (San Andreas) attached to write and direct back in 2012 but ultimately failing to get the movie off the ground…
…Shifting to the small screen now and it has been announced this week that Fox has renewed the Batman prequel series Gotham for a third season, while Brian McManamon has been cast as Basil Karlo, a.k.a. DC has kicked off the promotion for the upcoming ‘Worlds Finest’ crossover between Supergirl and The Flash by releasing a brief teaser and synopsis [watch it here] and a batch of promotional images [see here], while Grant Gustin has revealed that next season may see an even bigger crossover between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: “That’s in the cards at this point. The whole point of us doing this crossover is setting up the fact that maybe next year we can cross over all of them…”

…We’ve been clamoring for it for years, and the wait is almost over. With Warner Bros. set to unleash its hotly-anticipated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke this year, the first image from the film has arrived online featuring Batman and The Joker. Fan-favourite Batman: The Animated Series voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are both now officially confirmed as reprising their respective roles, and they’ll be joined by DC animation regular Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon and Ray Wise as Commissioner Gordon.
