As Netflix and A24’s critically acclaimed Beef picked up yet another prize for Limited Series at the Spirit Awards, news has emerged that a second season is looking to start a feud featuring Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.
According to Deadline the storyline for a sophomore season will this time will revolve around two feuding couples, and while there are no deals in place, Netflix and A24 have drawn up a wish-list with the hope of going into production by late summer or fall.
Both Melton and Spaeny had breakout years with May December and Priscilla respectively, and they’re stacking up the projects following their lauded performances. Melton has already lined up Todd Solondz’s Love Child and Alex Garland’s Untitled war movie, while Spaeny has Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus set to burst into cinemas on August 16.
Should they be going up against Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, it would reunite the two following their 2010 dramedy Love & Other Drugs.
Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, season one of Beef followed the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers, and the subsequent effect that their escalating feud had on their lives and relationships.
