The dynamic duo of Ben Affleck & Matt Damon are back together as news has broken, confirmed by Variety, that Affleck will direct Damon in an upcoming thriller titled Animals.
Recently acquired by Netflix, the kidnapping-focused crime thriller Animals will see Affleck bringing to life a script by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. Variety does note that Affleck will stay behind the camera without any intentions to star in it.
Affleck and Damon recently teamed up for Amazon Studios’ Nike drama Air, which grossed $90 million worldwide on a $70–90 million budget. It went on to be nominated for three Critics Choice Awards and two Golden Globes. But the pairing goes back much further than that, with the pair being childhood friends and going on to pen Good Will Hunting, winning the duo their first Oscars for Best Original Screenplay. In total, the team has collaborated on nine films.
Little is known about the upcoming Animals, but it’s reportedly set to follow a kidnapping with Matt Damon as the lead protagonist. Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more information on casting and a future release date.
