Just a day after news came out that Ben Affleck was not yet happy with the script for The Batman and could walk away from the project if it didn’t meet his standards, some new reports claim that a filming location has been chosen for the production. While Christopher Nolan primarily used Chicago, New York, and Pittsburg to act as Gotham City in the Dark Knight trilogy, Affleck is reportedly looking to shoot his film in Los Angeles.
According to both Batman-on-Film and Batman News, “the bulk of the filming of The Batman will take place in Los Angeles – most likely at the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank.” There’s no word yet on whether Affleck would actually shoot on location, or resort to bringing Gotham City to life via sound stages.
In any case, this is another sign that The Batman is aiming to begin production this Spring. The film is scheduled for release sometime in 2018, and will mark Affleck’s fourth big screen appearance as the titular Caped Crusader after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League. He’ll be joined by Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke.
