Ben Kingsley is Salvador Dali in first image from Mary Harron’s Dali Land

May 8, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Having wrapped its production in the UK, Deadline has unveiled the first image of Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley as Salvador Dali in Dali Land, the upcoming film from American Psycho director Mary Harron, which sees the legendary artist flanked by Andreja Pejić (The Girl In The Spider’s Web) as his muse Amanda Lear and Barbara Sukowa (Two Of Us) as his wife Gala.

Dali Land is set in New York and Spain in 1973 and “tells the story of the later years of the strange and fascinating marriage between the iconic Spanish painter and his domineering wife, Gala, as their seemingly unshakable bond begins to stress and fracture.”

Newcomer Christopher Briney plays James, a young assistant keen to make his name in the industry, who finds himself thrust into the centre of the eccentric Dalí’s remarkable and unexpected world as he helps him prepare for a big gallery show.

Along with Kingsley, Pejić and Sukowa, Dali Land also stars Rupert Graves (Sherlock) as Dalí’s right hand man Captain Moore, Suki Waterhouse (Misbehaviour) as Ginesta and Mark McKenna (The Winter Lake) as Alice Cooper, with Ezra Miller (Zack Snyder’s Justice League) also appearing as a young Dalí.
