According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Whishaw (Spectre) is in talks to join the cast of Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, where he’d play the now adult Michael Banks alongside Emily Blunt’s nanny.
The film, which is also set to star Lin-Manuel Miranda and Meryl Streep, is being directed by Rob Marshall (Into the Woods), and will take place twenty years after the original film, with Mary Poppins paying a visit to the grown-up Banks children after the family experiences a personal loss.
Rumours have suggested that both Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke are being lined up for cameos, but as yet there’s been no official confirmation on that front.
Mary Poppins Returns is set for release on Christmas Day 2018.
