After scoring a Best Actor Oscar nomination for Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, Benedict Cumberbatch is set to reunite with Netflix for a new project, the limited series Eric.
As per Variety, the six-episode series has been written by Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame), who will executive produce, while Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World) is on board to direct.
The series will take place in New York in the 1980s and see Cumberbatch as Vincent Sullivan, “the lead puppet maker and puppeteer of America’s most popular children’s show, whose life begins to unravel when his young son, Edgar, disappears. Now homeless and dealing with substance addiction, Vincent finds his only companion is Eric, a seven-foot tall blue puppet, who leads him on a journey to find his son and to find a way home.”
