According to Deadline, a potential revival/reboot of the hit 90s U.S. teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210 is in development, with original cast members Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris on board to reprise their roles.
The site reports that Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, writers and executive producers on The CW’s 90210 reboot, are working on the new series, which is apparently “not a traditional reboot”. CBS TV Studios is said to be pitching the project to potential networks and streaming services, with multiple buyers said to be interested.
Produced by Aaron Spelling, Beverly Hills, 90210 ran for 10 seasons between 1990 and 2000, and is credited with popularising the teen soap genre. It also spawned the successful spinoff Melrose Place, and the not-so-successful spinoff Models Inc, while the 2008 reboot ran for five seasons and saw original cast members Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, Ann Gillespie, Tori Spelling and Joe E. Tata all making appearances in its first season.
