A fourth adventure for Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4 film has long been mooted ever since 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop III, but it seems we will have to wait a bit longer to see the return of their favourite L.A. Cop.
The sequel, which is being directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), is still in development at Paramount, but will not be hitting cinemas next March as originally scheduled as the project has not progressed as either the studio, nor Murphy, were hoping. Indeed, the film was set to be released on March 25th 2016, which is the same weekend as the hugely-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so it is probably a wise decision to avoid that date regardless.
Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the first two Beverly Hills Cop films, is back on board for the fourth round, with the last script submitted by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol).
Will we ever see the return of Murphy in his most famous role? Has too much time passed for audiences to care about a fourth film? As ever, leave us your comments below…
