In January of this year it was announced that Anna Kendrick had signed on to lead a new female Santa Claus movie from Disney entitled Nicole, and now Variety is reporting that the actress will be joined in the cast by Bill Hader (Trainwreck) and Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street).
The film, which is being written and directed by Marc Lawrence (Miss Congeniality), revolves around Santa’s daughter, the titular Nicole (Kendrick), who is forced to take over the family business when her father retires and brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight.
Hader is currently shooting the HBO hitman comedy series Barry, while Eichner is attached to another Disney project, lending his voice to the character of Timon in Jon Favreau’s The Lion King.
UPDATE: Variety is reporting that screen legend Shirley MacLaine has also signed on to the film and will play Elf Polly, Nicole’s nanny who helped raise her all of her life.
Nicole is currently slated for release on November 8th 2019.
