UPDATE: THR is reporting that Billy Crudup remains “firmly on board” The Flash, and that the original EW report is inaccurate. Original story follows…
Having lost two directors in Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa, it now seems that Warner Bros. may have to find a new dad for Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in the planned DC solo movie The Flash.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Alien: Covenant star Billy Crudup has left the project, which is currently seeking a new director (just yesterday it was reported that Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn and Sam Raimi are all in contention).
If the report is true, it does cause a bit of a headache for Warner Bros. given that Crudup is set to portray Henry Allen in Justice League, and was even featured in the recent trailer. Of course, the studio could easily recast the character for the solo movie, and / or cut Crudup’s scene(s) from Justice League.
Meanwhile, Variety is reporting that Crudup has also signed on to star alongside Cate Blanchett and Kristen Wiig in Where’d You Go Bernadette?, the new film from Boyhood director Richard Linklater.
