He may not have got to play Harvey Dent’s evil alter-ego in a sequel to Tim Burton’s Batman, but Billy Dee Williams is finally set to portray Two-Face on the big screen next year, with director Chris McKay revealing on Twitter that he’s lending his voice to the villain in February’s The LEGO Batman Movie!

Having played District Attorney Harvey Dent in 1989’s Batman, Billy Dee was slated to return in Batman Returns, where he would have appeared in the Max Shreck role and suffered his facial scarring during the finale courtesy of Catwoman, which would have set him up as the main villain for the third movie. As it happens, Two-Face did appear in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever, although the role was ultimately recast, with Tommy Lee Jones replacing Williams.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
The LEGO Batman Movie is set for release on February 10th 2017 and sees Will Arnett joined in the voice cast by Michael Cera (Superbad) as Robin, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Batgirl, Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) as The Joker, Ralph Fiennes (Spectre) as Alfred, Billy Dee Williams (Batman) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Jenny Slate (The Secret Life of Pets) as Harley Quinn and Mariah Carey as Mayor McCaskill.
