Although it remains dated for release in December 2021, it seems that New Line Cinema’s DC superhero adventure Black Adam is unlikely to get through the pandemic unscathed, as THR is reporting that production on the Dwayne Johnson blockbusters looks set to be pushed into early 2021.
The Black Adam movie – which attached The Rock to the lead role way back in 2014 (with talks apparently going back as far as 2008) – was finally looking to commence filming in July, with Johnson’s Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra handling the reins.
This date was then pushed back to late summer as Hollywood went into shutdown in March due to the global health crisis. However, according to THR’s sources, production on Black Adam is now looking to begin early in 2021 owing to Johnson’s commitments to Red Notice, an action comedy thriller that he still needs to complete post-lockdown.

None of this has been confirmed by New Line or DC as yet, and presumably everything remains subject to change depending on further outbreaks, rising infection numbers etc. Should it prove accurate though, then it’s surely only a matter of time before we get word that the movie has been delayed into 2022.
