Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror is going interactive, with a social media leak last week revealed that Netflix is set to unleash a ‘choose your own adventure’-style Black Mirror movie entitled Bandersnatch ahead of the anthology show’s fifth season.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is directed by David Slade, the filmmaker behind 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy, along with the Black Mirror episode ‘Metalhead’, while a first look image reveals that the movie will feature Fionn Whitehead, Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry. Check it out here…
An alleged synopsis reads:
A young programmer makes a fantasy novel into a game. Soon, reality and virtual world are mixed and start to create confusion.
According to IndieWire, Bandersnatch has a running time of 312 minutes, which presumably covers all of the various paths the viewer can take through the interactive story. Rumours have suggested that it will be released on December 28th, and while that hasn’t been confirmed by Netflix, the official landing page does confirm a 2018 date.
