We still don’t really have a firm idea of when we can expect the first film to arrive, but Activision Blizzard Studios is already turning its attention to a second Call of Duty movie, with Variety reporting that Black Panther screenwriter Joe Robert Cole has been tapped to pen a sequel.
A big screen adaptation of the hugely successful video game series was first announced back in 2015 upon the formation of Activision Blizzard Studios, and earlier this year the project secured a director in Sicario: Day of the Soldado helmer Stefano Sollima.

The last update on Call of Duty came in October, when screenwriter Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden, Wormwood) revealed that the plan was to begin shooting in the Spring of 2019 for release at some point in 2020 or 2021, and that casting was already underway.
In addition to this year’s blockbuster Marvel movie Black Panther, Cole has written and directed the upcoming Netflix drama All Day and a Night for Netflix, which stars Jeffrey Wright and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
