Titan Comics has announced that Blade Runner 2049 screenwriter Michael Green is teaming up with longtime collaborator and comic writer Mike Johnson (Star Trek) to pen the highly-anticipated in-canon Blade Runner comic series for Titan Comics and Alcon Media Group.
“Every iteration of the Blade Runner world throws the window open a little wider,” states Green, whose recent screen credits include Alien: Covenant, Murder on the Orient Express, American Gods and the Oscar-nominated Logan. “Mike and I can’t wait to see what we find outside.”
“We’re very excited to have both Michael Green and Mike Johnson writing Titan Comics’ new Blade Runner comic book series,” adds said Titan’s co-founders, Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung. “We can’t wait for fans to see their vision.”
“Michael Green and Mike Johnson’s clear grasp of the tone and nuance that defines the Blade Runner universe makes them ideal partners on this exciting new comic book venture with Titan Comics,” says Alcon’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. “We are eager to continue to expand and explore this fascinating world with such a qualified and talented team.”
As yet, there’s no word on when we can expect to see the launch of the Blade Runner comic book series, but we’ll keep you posted.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Blade Runner 2049 sees Harrison Ford reprising the role of Rick Deckard alongside Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto and Edward James Olmos.
