Blake Lively has been tapped to star in the big-screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us.
According to Deadline the A Simple Favor actor will be directed by and star alongside Jane the Virgin‘s Justin Baldoni, with his Wayfarer Studios and Sony Pictures producing. Christy Hall, writer and co-creator of Netflix’s brilliant but criminally short-lived series I Am Not Ok With This will write the script.
It Ends with Us tells the story of Lily (Lively) who has just moved and is ready to start her life after college. She then meets a guy named Ryle and she falls for him. As she is developing feelings for Ryle, Atlas, her first love, reappears and challenges the relationship between Lily and Ryle.
Originally published in 2016, It Ends With Us became a viral phenomenon during the pandemic via a subset of TikTok named BookTok, where users can share their book recommendations. Author Colleen Hoover’s popularity rocketed, and as a result there have been over 2 billion views on her hashtag, and she is currently the best-selling novelist in the U.S., with over 20 million books sold. She will be acting a consultant on the film adaptation.
