It’s been a long time since we’d heard any news from Sony’s Valiant Comics shared universe, but it has been announced at their Emerald City Comic Con panel (via the good chaps at Bleeding Cool) that Bloodshot has found its director.
The film will be helmed by first-time director Dave Wilson, who worked alongside Deadpool‘s Tim Miller at Blur Studio, acting as the cinematic trailer director for titles like Mass Effect 2, Bioshock: Infinite and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. He also worked as a creative supervisor on Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Bloodshot was originally set to be directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski (John Wick), who have not only become very busy but are no longer working together. Leitch is stepping behind the camera for Deadpool 2, while Stahelski brought us this year’s John Wick: Chapter Two before beginning work on his Highlander reboot.
Sony announced their plans for a Valiant Entertainment shared universe, with Bloodshot being the first movie followed by Harbinger. This will then culminate in the franchise clashing in Harbinger War. Eric Heisserer (Arrival) has written both scripts, but there’s no word on whether Harbinger War has a writer or script.
