According to Deadline, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions has acquired the rights to the New York Magazine article Worst Roommate Ever, and is developing simultaneous film and TV adaptations.
Worst Roommate Ever details the story of Alex Miller, a woman who let out a room in her apartment to Jed Creek, who was actually Jamison Bachman, a notorious serial squatter. Bachman gradually laid claim to the apartment, kicking down doors, attacking Alex, and making her feel unsafe in her own home.
Chris Morgan, producer on the Fast & Furious movies, is developing the feature, while Blumhouse Television is handling a TV adaptation with a focus on a documentary series. William Brennan, the author of the article, will serve as an executive producer on both projects.
