Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man set for March 2020 release

May 26, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Universal Pictures has announced that Blumhouse Productions’ reimagining of the classic Universal Monsters movie The Invisible Man will materialise in cinemas in March 2020.

The project was announced back in January following Universal’s decision to abandon its Dark Universe plans, the studio having previously tapped Johnny Depp to star in a version which would have been set in the same world as the Tom Cruise-headlined The Mummy.

The Invisible Man is being directed by Leigh Whannell, who previously helmed Blumhouse’s Upgrade, and features a cast that so far includes Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time).

While official plot details for the The Invisible Man are being kept under wraps but it has been said that the movie will follow Moss’ character Cecilia, “who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better, but her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.”

The Invisible Man is set for release on March 13th 2020, where it will go head to head with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse Godzilla vs. Kong.
