A seamlessly endless string of Hollywood actors have been linked to one of the longest-mooted screen remakes in recent memory, The Crow. With the latest name, Luke Evans, leaving the role earlier in the year, it seemed as though the people behind the new version would be searching forever.
Well, Deadline is reporting that the hunt for Eric Draven may (again) be over. Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston is the latest name to be linked with role, and if he signs on, he would star in the film after he finishes work on the Ben-Hur remake for MGM and Paramount.
James O’Barr’s dark comic book antihero was first seen in a 1989 four-issue mini-series, before it was adapted into a feature film directed by Alex Proyas (I, Robot) and starred the late Brandon Lee, who died in an accident on-set. A television show and a few sequels followed, but didn’t match the success of the original film.
Music video director Corin Hardy is set to direct the remake from a script by Cliff Dorfman (Warrior). Filimg is set to start later this year, but no concrete release date has yet to be set.
