AMC has released the teaser trailer for Lucky Hank, its series adaptation of Richard Russo’s 1997 novel Straight Man, which reunites the Network with Breaking Bad and Better Caul Saul alum Bob Odenkirk.
The multi-award nominated actor plays William Henry Devereaux Jr., the unlikely interim chairman of the English department of the extremely underfunded Railton College, situated in the rust belt of Pennsylvania. As Devereaux finds himself in the middle of a midlife crisis, he must do everything in his power to keep the struggling school afloat, against the backdrop of an increasingly fractious home life.
Also starring Mireille Enos, Olivia Scott Welch, Suzanne Cryer, Diedrich Bader, Sara Amini, and Cedric Yarbrough along with Kyle MacLachlan, Tom Bower, and Chris Diamantopoulos, you can check out the trailer below…
Told in the first person by William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), Lucky Hank follows the exploits of an unlikely chairman in a badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt. It also stars Mireille Enos as Lily, William’s wife and the vice principal of the local high school. Just as Hank’s life begins to unravel, Lily also begins to question the path she’s on and the choices she’s made.
The series, which will run for eight episodes, was created and showrun by Aaron Zelman (Silicon Valley) and Paul Lieberstein (The Office). Author Russo is also a co-showrunner on the series.
Lucky Hank will premiere on March 19th, 2023.
