Back in April, it was announced that USA Network is working on a TV spinoff of the Jason Bourne franchise entitled Treadstone, and now comes word that Brian J. Smith (Sense8) and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) have been cast in the lead roles.
Treadstone “explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Treadstone — a covert operation that uses behavior modification protocol to turn its agents into nearly unstoppable superhuman assassins.”
Deadline reports that Smith will play Doug McKenna, an all-American oil-rig worker whose life changes after he discovers long buried truths about himself; Irvine meanwhile is J. Randolph Bentley, a spy who is dispatched by the CIA to eliminate a key target but instead finds himself embroiled in an international conspiracy.
Treadstone has been created by Tim Kring (Heroes) and has a full season order from USA Network. Production is slated to get underway in 2019.
