The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that buddies Brad Pitt and George Clooney are set to reunite on a new thriller from Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts, with the package currently the subject of a hotly-contested bidding war around Hollywood.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but THR’s sources suggest that the movie will see the Ocean’s co-stars playing two lone wolf fixers who find themselves assigned to the same job.
The as-yet-untitled film will be written and directed by Watts, who has directed all three of Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man movies including the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home and is also attached to Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie. He’ll also produce alongside Pitt and Clooney through their Plan B Entertainment and Smokehouse Pictures banners.
Sony, Lionsgate, Apple and Netflix are all said to be hot on the package, with Amazon, Annapurna, Universal, MGM, and Warner Bros. also in contention. It’s expected that the project will land Pitt and Clooney paydays in excess of $20 million, along with a career-high for Watts.
