Over the last couple of years the movie release calendar has been a little like looking up at the arrivals and departures board of a busy inner-city train station, so it perhaps fitting that David Leitch’s Bullet Train is going to have to wait just outside the platform for a couple of weeks in order to fill the slot vacated by Dwayne Johnson blockbuster Black Adam.
Based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka, Bullet Train‘s star-studded line-up features Brad Pitt, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Michael Shannon, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Brian Tyree Henry, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Sandra Bullock, and was originally meant to arrive on cinemas screens Friday, July 15. However, following Warner Bros. decision to move their entire 2022 DC slate, Sony Pictures have shunted their eagerly anticipated action film a couple of weeks so that it will now take Black Adam‘s release date of July 29th.

Based on the novel “Maria Beetle” by Kōtarō Isaka, Bullet Train stars Pitt as Ladybug, an assassin who boards a bullet train and encounters several other professional killers: Prince (Joey King), Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry) and Hornet (Zazie Beetz). Also on the train is Kimura (Andrew Koji), a father out for revenge after Prince left his son comatose. The killers soon realize that their various targets are all interrelated, and their assignments quickly spiral out of control.
Bullet Train is exclusively in movie theaters from July 29th.
