Brie Larson reportedly the frontrunner to play Captain Marvel

June 2, 2016 by James Garcia

There has been plenty of speculation about who would play Captain Marvel ever since the Marvel Comics heroine’s solo film was confirmed back in 2014. Though the movie isn’t slated to arrive until 2019, word has it that she’ll show up first in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. Kevin Feige recently claimed that we’d be getting big news regarding the character this summer, and the first sign of such an exciting announcement has arrived!

According to Variety, Academy Award-Winner Brie Larson (Room, Kong: Skull Island) is the current frontrunner for the role. Variety’s sources remain tight-lipped about how far negotiations with Larson have gone, but they hear that she’s “their first choice,” and that she is “leaning toward playing the part.”

What do you think of this news? Would you like to see Larson in the role? Sound off with your comments below, and stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more Captain Marvel news as it develops!
