Bryan Cranston, Niecy Nash, Ryan Reynolds, Ian McKellen, Amanda Seyfried and the cast of Modern Family set for Family Guy roles

July 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

During the Family Guy panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International this past weekend, executive producer Rich Appel revealed that Bryan Cranston, Niecy Nash, Ryan Reynolds, Ian McKellen, Amanda Seyfried and the cast of Modern Family are set to lend their voices to upcoming episodes of the animated sitcom.

Cranston and Nash will play Peter’s Griffin’s new bosses at the Pawtucket Brewery, replacing the character of Angela, who was voiced by the late Carrie Fisher (Angela will still appear in the new season, as Fisher had completed at least one episode before her passing in December).

Ryan Reynolds will be making his third appearance in the series, while Amanda Seyfried will voice a show dog, Ian McKellen will play Stewie’s therapist, and stars from Modern Family will appear in an episode which sees Family Guy reimagined as an “Emmy bait” series.

Meanwhile, creator Seth MacFarlane also paid tribute to Carrie Fisher, along with Adam West, who also passed away recently:

“[Adam] was the guy who we all hope we’re like in our 80s,” said MacFarlane. “He just had boundless energy. He would come in and instantly put everyone in a good mood. It was just really a tremendous energy to have around. He gave 150 percent right up until the end, often times more than people half his age. He was an extraordinary guy. We miss him.”

“Carrie was brilliant and funny, and always surprising, and would always make you laugh,” he continued. “She’d never fail to make you laugh. She would come in and just… the things that would come out of her mouth were often times things that I might not say, but she got away with it because she was Carrie F—ing Fisher…. I didn’t know her as well as Adam West, but what I did know of her was unforgettable. Carrie Fisher is irreplaceable.”
