Cameron Cuffe to lead Krypton as Superman’s grandfather

October 3, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Syfy has found its lead for the upcoming Superman prequel pilot Krypton, with British actor Cameron Cuffe (Florence Foster Jenkins) set to play Seg-El, the grandfather of Kal-El.

Krypton has been created by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and takes place on Superman’s home world, two generations before its destruction. The potential series will follow Seg-El, as he fights to redeem his family’s honour after the House of El is ostracized and shamed. He’ll also be embarking on a secret love affair with Lyta Zod (Georgina Campbell), a cadet in Krypton’s military academy.

Goyer has written the pilot with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time), while Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) directs and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) serves as showrunner.
