Following a very successful run on CBC and Netflix, the Canadian comedy series North of North has been renewed for a second season.
Created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, North of North features Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young Inuk woman who wants to build a new future for herself after a spontaneous — and extremely public — exit from her marriage. But it won’t be easy in a small Arctic town where everybody knows your business.
The series premiered on CBC and APTN, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, in January before coming to Netflix just a few weeks ago on April 10th. The first season, which is a co-production between CBC, APTN and Netflix, ran for 8-episodes and has garnered much positive acclaim, including a rare critics rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“When I got the call from Alethea, Stacey and Miranda about North of North being renewed for a second season, my heart exploded in the best way possible!,” Lambe told Tudum.com. “I’m so excited and overwhelmed with joy, I can’t wait to head back to Ice Cove!”
North of North stars Anna Lambe, Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kelly William, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, Keira Belle Cooper and Tanya Tagaq.
