Captain Marvel has reportedly already been cast, may appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron

March 24, 2015 by James Garcia

One of the biggest mysteries about Marvel’s upcoming slate of films is who will play their heroine Captain Marvel. There’s been plenty of speculation from both fans and journalists regarding who could take on the coveted role, and exactly when the character could debut in the MCU before her solo film in 2018.

Badass Digest has previously reported that early drafts of the Avengers: Age of Ultron script included a cameo from Captain Marvel, and now Latino Review is backing up that claim, adding that the role of Carol Danvers has already been cast.

El Mayimbe once again took to Instagram to drop the scoop, which he notes is unconfirmed and should be taken with a massive grain of salt. He states that Marvel has already found an actress for the role but is keeping it “top secret.” She’ll also reportedly show up in Age of Ultron as originally written in original drafts of the script. As far as the standalone film goes, Marvel has already decided on a plot and story and are looking for an established writer to pen the screenplay.

Comics writer Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Avengers Assemble, Supergirl, Pretty Deadly) has expressed interested, but Mayimbe is not sure if she landed the gig. He does however note that comics writer Jim Starlin, famous for revamping characters like Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock, is on board as a consultant.

As always, take this as merely a rumor for now, and keep an eye on the site for any more Captain Marvel updates to come.
