With Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers is set to return in Captain Marvel 2 next year, the lead actor has praised director Nia DaCosta (Candyman) and the work the filmmaker has put into the project so far.
“It’s amazing. I’m so excited that it’s announced and I can talk about,” Larson said during an appearance on A Little Late With Lilly Singh. “Nia’s amazing and she got the job because she was the best person for the job. That’s one of my favorite parts about this. She just gave an incredible presentation and I’m inspired by her! She has confidence, it’s a big deal to step into this thing we know as the Marvel Universe. It’s this huge thing and to have a leader who’s just like, ‘Yeah, I’m meant to be here.'”
While plot details for Captain Marvel 2 are being kept under wraps, we do know the film will feature the adult, present-day version of Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris (who was previously portrayed as a child by Akira Akbar in the first film) as well as featuring Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, who will be reprising her role from the upcoming Ms. Marvel TV series. The film is set for release on November 11th 2022.
