Captain Toad gets EU release date, new trailer

October 11, 2014 by Tom Powter

Are you living in Europe or Australia? Were you disappointed that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker slipped into 2015 while the US still manage to get it in December? Well don’t be too sour about it as the game is actually releasing very, very early in 2015. Gamers in the EU will be able to pick up the game on January 9th, while those in Australia can get it on January 10th.

A new trailer has also shown off more of the game, which is looking wonderful. The colourful worlds each have their own distinct theme, such as deserts, which help the game feel like a Mario game at heart. Alongside this, new enemies were also introduced – familiar faces such as Shy Guys and Goombas will make their returns, while all-new enemies have also been introduced. Walleye is a Thwomp-like character who attempts to block your path, while Flaptor is a red bird that while attempt to stop you should you get in their way.

These cute characters are joined by the return of Toadette, who has only ever really appeared in spin-off games like Mario Kart. When you’re able to play as her isn’t really explained, but she certainly is playable at least. The game looks incredibly creative and charming and a great solo debut for Toad.
