During a 30th anniversary screening of the 1988 cult horror comedy Elvira: Mistress of the Dark at the Salem Horror Fest, Cassandra Peterson has revealed that she is looking to bring back her horror hostess for a new feature film.
Speaking at a post-screening Q&A (via Bloody Disgusting), Peterson revealed that she has written a treatment for a new Elvira movie, whcih she has been shopping to streaming services such as Netflix, Shudder and Hulu.
Peterson first found fame as Elvira in 1981 as the host of the comedy series Elvira’s Movie Macabre, which ran for five seasons through to 1986 and was revived for another season in 2010.
The character made the jump to the big screen in 1988 with Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, followed by a second feature, Elvira’s Haunted Hills, in 2001, while Peterson once again returned to the role in 2014 for Hulu’s 13 Nights of Elvira.
