Cate Blanchett in talks for Eli Roth’s The House With a Clock in Its Walls

August 16, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to join the cast of Eli Roth’s The House With a Clock in Its Walls.

The Amblin Entertainment venture will be directed by Eli Roth and would see Blanchett working alongside Jack Black.

The House With a Clock in Its Walls will be an adaptation of the 1973 horror novel by John Bellairs, a book which tells the story of an orphaned boy who moves in with his uncle. It turns out that the boy’s uncle is a mediocre witch, and the boy is propelled into a world of magic and danger; no more so than when he discovers a clock inside the house walls which is designed to usher in doomsday.

Jack Black will be playing the uncle in the movie. If Blanchett signs her deal she will be portraying Mrs. Zimmerman, a witch and the uncle’s neighbour/best friend.

Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt, and Eric Kripke are producing.
