Cate Blanchett in talks for female-led Ocean’s Eleven reboot

June 6, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

The Playlist is reporting that Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett (Carol) may be about to join Warner Bros. Pictures’ all-female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven.

Blanchett, who has recently signed on to play the villain in Thor: Ragnarok, is in talks to join the cast of the film, which already has fellow Oscar winner Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) signed on to star as in the Danny Ocean role. Blanchett is set to play a version of Brad Pitt’s Rusty from the remake.

The new film is being directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) and is set to be a continuation of the Clooney-Pitt led films, with Bullock and Blanchett “forming a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.”

In addition, the report also suggests that Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: Apocalypse) who was also linked to the film last month may not star in the film after all due to scheduling problems.

Olivia Milch (Queen & Country) is writing the script, with original director Steven Soderbergh and producer Jerry Weintrab also involved in the film, which has a working title of Ocean’s Ocho.
