20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff Gambit has had a bit of a rocky road through development, with Channing Tatum’s on-off involvement in the lead as Remy LeBeau, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt vacating the director’s chair following creative disputes with the studio.
Well, with Tatum now firmly on board, along with a new director in Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow), it seems the production is finally coming together, with WGNO reporting that filming is slated to get underway this March. Obviously the proposed October 2016 release date is a little ambitious, so expect it to be pushed back to 2017.
Gambit will see Tatum joined in the cast by Lea Seydoux (Spectre) as Bella Donna Boudreaux, and while little is known about the plot, producer Simon Kinberg has described the film as “a sexy heist thriller”.
