Almost two weeks on from the surprise cancellation of Daredevil, actor Charlie Cox has shared his thoughts on the decision to axe the Marvel superhero series during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did,” said Cox. “The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that.”
In the wake of the cancellation, Marvel released a statement promising that “we look forward to more adventures with the Man Without Fear in the future”, and Cox went on to suggest that he may not be involved with any future Daredevil adventures – although he is certainly open to reprising the role should the opportunity arise.
“t’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years… I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again.”
