Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam has become the latest addition to the cast of True History of the Kelly Gang, director Justin Kurzel’s (Assassin’s Creed) upcoming adaptation of Peter Carey’s Booker Prize-winning novel, which tells the story of the notorious Australian outlaw Ned Kelly.
Hunnam joins a star-studded cast which sees George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) as Kelly alongside Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Sean Keenan (Strangerland), Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), Harry Greenwood (Hacksaw Ridge, upcoming The Nightingale), Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace) and Earl Cave (Born to Kill).
“I feel blessed that Charlie joined this cast,” states Kurzel. “He has created the most unique and distinct character for this film and it has been a real highlight to work with him. It has been a real honor working with this super talented crew and an honor to collaborate with such distinguished and talented actors.”
Kurzel wraps production on True History of the Kelly Gang this week and will soon move on to his next project, the World War II thriller Ruin, which has just cast Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl).
