THR is reporting that Charlize Theron (Tully) is set to play former lawyer and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly in an untitled project from Annapurna Pictures and director Jay Roach (Trumbo), which will explore the tale of disgraced Fox News chairman Roger Ailes.
Scripted by Oscar-winner Charles Randolph (The Big Short), the film will detail the fall of Ailes, who ran Fox News and helped launch the careers of the likes of Kelly, Sean Hannity and Gretchen Carlson, before being forced to resign in 2016 in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations. Kelly and Carlson were the two highest-profile names to allege misconduct, and Kelly reportedly refused to come out in support of Ailes despite being pressured to do so.

In addition to starring as Kelly, Theron will also serve as producer on the film, which is described as an ensemble piece and will also feature characters such as former anchor Greta Van Susteren, media mogul Rupert Murdoch and fired host Bill O’Reilly.
Theron is currently shooting the comedy Flarsky alongside Seth Rogen, and has recently confirmed that a sequel to last year’s action thriller Atomic Blonde is also in the pipeline.
