It looks like Matt Reeves is filling out the Gotham City Police Department for The Batman, with reports this week revealing that Chernobyl actors Alex Ferns (EastEnders) and Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) have been cast as Commissioner Pete Savage and Chief Mackenzie Bock respectively.
Pete Savage appears to be a newly-created character in the Batman universe (although a presumably unrelated character by that name did appear in the ‘An Egg Grows in Gotham’ episode of the 1960s TV series). Mackenzie Bock however does have history in the comic books as a detective and later chief of detectives of the GCPD.
Given that The Batman is expected to explore the early days of the Dark Knight, it’s not really surprising that Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) is yet to make Police Commissioner, and that’s something we’ll presumably see playing out in the film (or a sequel) similar to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.
