Not content with occupying a single role in the multi-dimensional world of Marvel following his turn as Baron Mordo in Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange movies, Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to star opposite Tom Hardy in Venom 3.
According to Deadline the 12 Years a Slave actor will join Hardy and the recently announced Juno Temple in an unspecified role.
With Andy Serkis stepping aside from directorial duties, the franchise’s long-time writer Kelly Marcel will be behind the camera for the next instalment, which will hope to add to the frankly mind-boggling $1.36 billion Venom has made at the box-office so far.
Spider-Man aside, the anarchic symbiote appears to be Sony’s biggest asset when it comes to expanding their universe of Marvel Characters, which includes any character introduced in the Spider-Man comics as they still hold the film rights to the webslinger.
Following the failure of Morbius there’s a lot riding on the next few films off the conveyor belt of bad-guys, with Kraven the Hunter released in theatres on October 6, 2023, followed by a Madame Web movie starring Dakota Johnson, which opens on February 16th 2024.
