Captain America himself, Chris Evans, has come out as saying that he believes the long mooted Black Widow solo film will actually get made.
With 2017 looking to be a big year for MCU movies — with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok on the way, all building up to next year’s Avengers: Infinity War – Marvel will of course look to keep the money train going, and are no doubt already planning what is to come in Phase Four of the Cinematic Universe.
Chris Evans is of the mind that the long speculated Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson will actually be made at some point, and will in fact do rather well.
Elle spoke to Evans about the potential movie, and just why there has been no official announcement as yet.
“That’s a good question,” said Evans. “It would really just clean up, wouldn’t it? Scarlett is so good at everything she does. She’s played such a crucial part in the other films. She always makes her presence so felt—even when there are 50 different superheroes running around onscreen. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens at some point in the future. I’m sure Scarlett would be open to it.”
While you wouldn’t expect Evans to say anything much different, fans will be glad to hear that someone with the clout he has is on board with the idea, and as Johansson has said on several occasions, she would also be open to the prospect and has even said it is “just a cast of timing” before it becomes a reality.
With the sheer amount of Marvel movies surely in the pipeline, it seems unlikely that there won’t be a Black Widow movie at some point.
