Having signed a six film deal with Marvel Studios to play Captain America, Chris Evans will make his fifth appearance as Steve Rogers in next year’s Phase Three launching Captain America: Civil War (or sixth, if you’re counting his cameo in Thor: The Dark World).
After that, he’ll be returning to fulfil his contractual commitments alongside the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they take on Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and speaking to Collider, the actor has revealed that he’ll be appearing in both parts of Infinity War, and is also open to extending his stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond that.
“Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me,” states Evans. “I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such—I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor. It’s so mind-boggling that I was so tentative in the beginning to jump onboard. What an asshole I would be if I hadn’t done this. I mean can you imagine? Kicking myself—I’d never forgive myself!”
Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6th 2016, followed by Avengers: Infinity War – Part I on May 4th 2018 and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II on May 3rd 2019.
