Greg Berlanti’s upcoming remake of Little Shop of Horrors has its first cast member, with Avengers and Knives Out star Chris Evans set to portray Orin Scrivello, D.D.S., the sadistic dentist boyfriend of the film’s female lead Audrey.
The new adaptation of the hit stage musical (which was itself based upon Roger Corman’s low-budget 1960 film The Little Shop of Horrors) is being directed by Greg Berlanti (Love, Simon), and has Rocketman’s Taron Egerton and Evans’ MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson circling the roles of florist Seymour Krelborn and his co-worker Audrey. Billy Porter (Pose) is set to lend his voice to the carnivorous alien Venus flytrap Audrey II.
The role of Orin Scrivello was previously played by Steve Martin in the Frank Oz-directed 1986 adaptation, which was led by Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene as Seymour and Audrey.
Filming on Little Shop of Horrors is set to take place this summer, but as yet there’s no word on a potential release date.
