Netflix and Amazon are reportedly in a $100 million bidding war to secure the rights to Crime 101, a Heat-style drama that has Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal attached to star.
Deadline reports that Bart Layton, who helmed the superb American Animals, is on board to direct, and while no deals are in place for the Extraction and The Last of Us stars, both Hemsworth and Pascal had shown interest in Crime 101 prior to the ongoing strikes.
Crime 101 is a novella from New York Times Best-Selling Author Don Winslow (The Border), and tells the story of a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway which has gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101.” Police attribute the thefts to the Colombian cartels, but Detective Lou Lubesnick’s gut says it’s the work of just one man. Now the lone-wolf jewel thief is looking for that fabled final last score and Lou breaks all the rules of Crime 101.
