As anticipation and promotion for the much-hyped Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 enters overdrive, Chris Pratt and Michael Rooker took the time to explain how the relationship between Star-Lord and his father figure Yondu has evolved since the first movie.
Speaking to USA Today, Chris Pratt started off by saying “In the first one, he was a guy chasing us. And in this movie, it becomes a little more than that,” to which Michael Rooker expanded on with by stating “Yondu has made peace with this kid that he’s raised and we’re having a good time”.
Rooker also teased friction between Yondu and Star-Lord’s real father Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell) saying Yondu “doesn’t think much of Ego”.
From these comments, it also seems that Yondu will play a much larger role in the team for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
